Bruma Artesanato – Where nature meets tradition

At Bruma Artesanato, we believe that each Azorean artisanal creation is a bridge between past and present, between the volcanic nature of the Azores and human creativity.

Our local artisans, heirs to traditional knowledge passed down from generation to generation, use local materials and sustainable artisanal techniques that respect the delicate Azorean ecosystem.

At Bruma Artesanato, we celebrate what is ours.

We value local production with a sustainable foundation, using genuine raw materials from the Azores: clay from Santa Maria Island, beeswax from São Miguel, our fish scales, donkey milk from Graciosa Island, corn husks, and wine grape varieties from Pico and São Miguel. Each piece carries the history, the soul, and the respect for Azorean nature. Come feel, see, and take home with you an authentic piece of the Azores.

Our materials

Natural, local and sustainable

Clay from Santa Maria Island

Our ceramic pieces are molded with white clay, and whenever possible, we also use clay from the island of Santa Maria. This clay, rich in volcanic minerals, is recognized for its unique plasticity and earthy color, characteristic of the Azores. Each piece of artisanal pottery is hand-turned by Alexandra Seara, owner of Bruma Artesanato.

Fish Scales

A meticulous craftsmanship transforms Veja scales—a byproduct of local sustainable fishing—into delicate, one-of-a-kind jewelry. Through a traditional Azorean artisanal process of cleaning, treating, and molding, each scale acquires a unique shine, creating jewelry exclusive to the Azores.

Various Natural Materials

Moss, stones, seashells, volcanic sand, cryptomeria wood - natural materials with a deep connection to the islands and the ancient tradition of lapinha nativity scenes, creating unique sustainable crafts.

Beeswax and honey

Our beeswax comes exclusively from hives in São Miguel, where bees feed on endemic flora such as heather, frankincense, and cedar, giving the wax an unmistakable aroma and unique properties for handmade candles.

Corn leaf

This resource, majestically crafted by local artisans, is converted into beautiful dolls and nativity scene figures.
